This is Brendan Stacy with Let's Wind with Brendan Stacy. We're back with just another episode because we don't know where we've been.
SPEAKER_00Where have you been? You left me. I did. I left you. I went to the Chicagoland area. That's what the Chicagoans call it. La La Palooza was going on downtown, so we didn't go towards downtown. I bet. I've been downtown on one of our past trips. It was amazing. I'm glad we did it. We went the opposite way, I guess. I don't know which way is which. You know that. I don't know that around here. Left. I know. I don't know that. But anyway, we went to Wisconsin. I was so excited. I have another state now. That's the furthest north I've ever been. We, of course, went on a boat ride, um, a little boat towards Lady of the Lake tours, what it was called. It had a bar on the what lake was it? Geneva. That's it. It's Lake Geneva. I keep wanting to call it a different name, but it's Lake Geneva. So that was a blast. It had a bar on the boat, so I had a good time. Um, and it was interesting, you know, to see all the Wrigley's home and probably their second or third home, but monstrous homes. It was very pretty, even though it was kind of rainy and the weather wasn't perfect. It was still cool, so I wasn't complaining. I had a hat on, so I didn't care what my hair did. So yeah, it was really nice. How was the drive up there? Long. Yeah. That's a long, long trip. I've also discovered for extra fun that it's hard for me to travel 12 to 14 hours in a car now because my body is just like we don't like that. And my feet and ankles swelled from the ride up and from the ride and from the ride back. And we stopped a lot just to get out and walk. And of course, we had to go to Bucky's coming and going. I was telling Jeff when we were on our way there on the way up. I was like, this better not disappoint. So we went to Wisconsin. I also, and while we were in Wisconsin, you can't go to Wisconsin, in my opinion, and not have beer and cheese. We found a place called a Topsy Turvy, and it's an old, old, old, old, old Baptist church that they have turned into a brewery. Maybe they had one, I just didn't notice. I just wanted beer. It was so fun, you know, trying all the different beers. I got a flight, of course, and enjoyed that. And then fried cheese curds and two different flavors, and he just had to do it. It was like, do we are we hungry? Are we thirsty? Who cares? We're Wisconsin. We're gonna live like Wisconsin's. That was a hoot. I was so excited when I found out we were going to another state. I couldn't believe that wasn't their lead story. Like, let's go to Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. I would have been flipping out. You were close. You're pretty close up there. I don't know directions, and I didn't, you know, it's not like I'm gonna look at a map and study where I am. Anyway, that shocks me.
SPEAKER_01I want to know where I am. Oh, I I have no clue. I like aerial views. I had no clue where the hell nothing was. Anytime I go somewhere now, I check that GPS because I want that aerial view of the map. It helps me learn my way around because my sense of direction is so off.
SPEAKER_00Oh, well, I've never tried that, but um, so we did that, then had a a pool day over with family. We stay with Jeff's parents, his uh mom and stepdad, and they were so accommodating. You know, it's nice to be with family and you know, have your space and yet all be together at the same time. And the pool party was fun, all the people were fun, seeing everybody was very nice. I got to meet a lot of his Jacobowski side of the family and a lot of his mom's side of the family, so it was awesome. And just going somewhere different is fun for that long of a road trip. Uh it's hard for me to sleep with Jeff driving.
SPEAKER_01I was wondering, that's what I wanted to ask about. Yeah. The driving. How did that go? Because I know he has a bit of a lead foot.
SPEAKER_00He does have a bit of a lead foot. He gets too close for comfort toward the next car. I feel like I have to stay awake to maintain right who's gonna scream if I'm asleep. And I have real bad FOMO. I have fear of missing out on what we're gonna see or what we're gonna pass, or even though there's m miles and miles and hours and hours of nothing but cornfields, it's interesting to see the windmills, wind turbines, and how they live. And we talked a lot about corn. Like, I don't want I love corn. I love corn too, but I don't want the corn that's growing closest to the road. Well, not highway, I don't want highway corn.
SPEAKER_01You don't want exhaust corn.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, I'm like, I don't want that. What's your favorite kind of corn? On the cob. On the cob. Flavor it all up. Cream corn, pop corn. I don't want the highway corn. But Jeff goes, Jeff goes, oh, they use that corn as feed. I'm like, well then we it's the same, like, we're not directly eating it, but they're feeding it to the animals we eat.
SPEAKER_01I know that I eat. So you might as well just put your mouth right around the exhaust on that car. Might as well just suck it in. Pretend you're eating corn. Pretend I'm eating corn. Well, I missed you while you were gone.
SPEAKER_00I know, I miss being home. You know, there's no place like home. That is true. That's what I heard from the Wizard of Oz. There's no place like home. It is true though. You know sleeping your own bed and pooping your own toilet. It is nice to go. I I do like going places and doing that. And it was nice. We had a down day after driving up there all day. We had to have a down day of nothingness. So that was even a nice day. You know, to just hang out and relax and wear my moo moo and you know, enjoy your day.
SPEAKER_01Oh well, when you were gone, I went to a pottery place. I'm so jealous. Well, you'll be going with me next time. We've got to make something for the Let's Wine podcast. Oh, yeah. I'm going. I'm going. We will do that. And then I went off to Catsit for two nights for our coworker. So I got to cuddle with kitties.
SPEAKER_00I know, and I got paid in wine. Well, I mean, if you they paid you money, you would just go spend it online.
SPEAKER_01So there you go. I know. They made it easy. Right. Right. And then I had it there if I needed it. That's awesome. It was. And it it was a place that was closer to work too, so I got it. I got pampered. Oh the drive was easy there and back. So I got to play with Loki and Tim. That's cute. I know. And it's funny because one's a lover in the evening and one's a lover by day. But I thought it was gonna be the other way around. But Loki was the one that slept in the bed with me. Good boy.
SPEAKER_00Aww. And then you got to get your kitty fix. Kitty pets and kitty fixes and I know I think it's funny the first thing you asked me, did you bring a cat home? I was curious if you're gonna try to steal one. I tried to steal a dog while we were in Chicago. I believe it. And where is it? Apparently these people are too attached to give me one.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh. You know, it's hard to talk somebody out of their animal. It is. You know, I think she'd have been like, you take my husband, but you're not taking my animals. Oh, yeah. It's easier than now. I know. So I did not bring home an amazing animal. But we're getting there. And we've got another trip coming up soon, and after that's done, I think Jeff and I agreed we're gonna talk about it. We're gonna start talking about it. And then after that, you got Scotty coming. Hey, me, Scotty, why are you coming to see me? I'm so excited. We'll have to drag him in here and talk about some dumb shit he's got going on.
SPEAKER_01I know. We just wanted to tell everybody the dumb shit we've been doing the past few days because last week we just kind of did a happy summer and we'll be back on track next week. We're gonna do a part two of the Assumptions episode, but we've actually been gone. This was kind of put on the back burner. Yeah. But we're still here. Yeah. We're not stopping anytime soon.
SPEAKER_00I know. I I still I'm just to the point. I know I I was uh gave away gave out some cards while uh we were traveling, and you said you had two in the last few days. We listened to podcasts, not ours, but other podcasts on the way up there, and we're not doing too bad. Well, good. I know our first, I don't know what, several maybe episodes were rusty, and but we left them because they're part of our history, but I think we're doing really well. I took it.
SPEAKER_01Tell people to work backwards through the episodes if they're gonna listen. I gave out cards too to the girl at it's called iCandy Art Studio, and I gave her some cards and I saw that they're following us now. Nice. So I can't wait to go back and get my cup, and we'll have to go back and make something. And you and Jeff need a date there. Yeah, it's a cute place, and it's in Duluth, it's not far. Definitely, definitely I wanna go. Definitely.
SPEAKER_00I want to go, definitely. Yeah, I'd already talked to him about that when I saw the pictures that you posted in like.
SPEAKER_01That's a good question. I need to find that out. Because some of those like painting with a twist, they let you bring stuff in. I don't know. That's a good one. Like, or at least like if we buy it next door, is this like a partner company that we can bring it over while we're painting? That's a good question.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. I mean, I don't have to bring my own bottle. I'll definitely pay for the whole point is just having it while we're yeah, just to have a little sippy sip bringing my zippy cup baby. While you're creating. While I'm creating, but I'm being creative. I can't wait. Let's go. I know I can't wait to get the callers. I'm ready for them to call you and say, hey, your item's ready, come get it. Because I think it's so cool. It just sounds fun. I've been to something like that before and uh boy have I. And uh it was um it was neat, you know, and you have something, you know, I created something. Right. It's been gosh over 30 years. But I still have it.
SPEAKER_01And I still have the Valentine's Day thing that Scott and I made. Yeah. I sent you a picture of that this morning. Like you and Jeff have to make something together. It doesn't matter what it is. But I use that little heart-shaped bowl all the time. Upstairs right now, it has my pens in it and my fireplace remote and TV remote, all that stuff gets thrown in that yeah, little dish. So it's useful.
SPEAKER_00So let's go.
SPEAKER_01Our regular shows will resume next week. Awesome. I can't wait. So we wrap in this one just to say this is where we've been. We've been cap sitting Chicago, Wisconsin. Yeah. And I worked. I and I did work through the weekend too. Oh, I know, did I?
SPEAKER_00I'm a working girl. I'm sure this weekend I'll be there all damn week.
SPEAKER_01They're gonna use and abuse you now that you're back.
SPEAKER_00I know. And then we gotta get a probably a couple of recordings in next week because then I'm gonna be gone again for like four days. Four or five days. Yeah, and it's good. You hear what's happening in the background? I hear. Yep, another storm coming. No, another storm coming. So we're gonna wrap it up. We got TV shows to catch up on that we missed for the week. I go back to work tomorrow since we didn't come rich while we were gone. Or you start a conversation. How much longer do you think I should work, Jeff? Did you do that too? Yeah, yeah, yeah. What do you say? Well, it's complicated. All right.
SPEAKER_01We can talk about that another time. Why not? Like what's the perfect age to retire? Uh 52, in my opinion.
SPEAKER_00We'll come back and talk about that some other time when we're back on our regular scheduled thing.
SPEAKER_01Yes, so we'll be back next week.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let's do it on Let's Wine with Brendan and Stacey. Bye.
