This is Brendan Stacy with Let's Wind with Brendan Stacy. This episode is actually gonna be about Duluth, Georgia. But first, we just found out today that Dolly Parton passed away.
SPEAKER_00It is heartbreaking. Definitely, she is one of those people who is a legend. She was a living legend. She is, I mean, she has contributed so much. You gotta think, well, I was born and raised a country music fan. I mean, Dolly Parton has never not been in my life. Her music is amazing. No matter the letter of whatever community you were in or ethnicity that you are, Dolly was just a lover. You could tell that in her spirit, in her soul, the way other people have talked about her. Everybody loves Dolly. I know. I love Dolly. I would probably hit somebody in the face, they said, ew. I don't like her. I loved her as an actress. Oh, yes. Wonderful actress. Yes. Christmas.
SPEAKER_01Miss Little Whorehouse in Texas.
SPEAKER_00Steel Magnolias. Yes. She's one of those people who you could watch all day do nothing if she wanted to just sit there and do nothing. Christmas song Hard Candy Christmas is now gonna make me cry more than it ever has. I cry. Hard Candy Christmas, man. That one is like oh the heart, man. Um, the heart in that um you can feel it in her voice when she's singing something like feel it in your soul to where that song would literally make me cry. And I grew up going to Dollywood to just think she came from absolutely dirt floors and sharing a bed with, you know, with her siblings all in the same room and into where she ended up and uh definitely gonna be missed. And yeah, my phone blew up, I guess, as soon as it happened today because everybody knows we don't have regular TV, so and I don't go on the internet all day, every day. So everybody was like, Dolly Parton passed away. And you know, at first I think it was shot more of a like pfft, yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01I know, you know. The first one I got, I had to look for myself.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like, hold on, fact check.
SPEAKER_00To me, it's sad. She's gonna be missed being a country music lover all my life. Um it's gonna leave a hole. It's gonna leave a little bit of hole there. So love you, Dolly. She will be missed, not just by us. And I know you hate country music and you love Dolly Park. So, you know, just goes to show you. I I just can't I don't know what to say.
SPEAKER_01I know.
SPEAKER_00So we'll just say goodbye, Dolly. You know, keep singing. Yeah, keep singing. Somebody needs to put bubble wrap around Cher.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, I'm saying, Well, of course, you know, all the drag queens are like, we need a wall of protection now around Stevie Nicks and Cher. Yeah. I know we can't lose anybody else. No, I know, I know.
SPEAKER_00Wall of protection around the rest. God bless you, Dolly. I'm missing.
SPEAKER_01Okay. All right. Well, I guess we'll go on then. The other night we actually went to Duluth, Georgia, and that is where, if you follow my horror movie reviews, I made a piece of pottery that has the name of the show on it, and I'm using that. And this is the same place that I finally got to take Stacy to. To start off with, it is definitely the place to go because you can walk around with your alcohol. I don't know how they zoned it, but they let you do it and take it into different places. You can buy it at the wine place next door and take it in to paint, and I guess walk around the streets with it, and even the wine place will allow you to bring food from the outside in. We didn't know that. I know. We could have had Taco Bell under our arm and walked in there for fine wine.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was funny. We didn't know that we could have brought our own food. So that's definitely on the list. There are restaurants around there, you just have to kind of creep around the corners a little bit. Well, we both had the same thing. We both had uh fish and chips, and it was delicious. Of course, I have to try every funky drink they have. So I tried a lot of different drinks while we were there, and they were all good. So I definitely go back there and eat again. I definitely go back and paint again. We I finally was able to uh join in the painting fun. The first thing we did, we went to Nico's, which is the wine store next to the street. Which has a we learned has a wine tasting.
SPEAKER_01Yes, on Thursdays.
SPEAKER_00On Thursdays, once a week. So we will definitely have to go back and check that out. I love a wine tasting, I think it's fun. I love being able to chat with other people. What do you think? They usually have the vendors there who will explain the body and the taste and the the smells and how many legs there are and stuff like that. So it's it's just interesting. Wish I had that palette.
SPEAKER_01I just go because it's 20 bucks to taste all the wine you want. Yes, it said the email came today. Did you get one? I don't. Didn't you sign up? There's an email there that says it's $20 a person unless you're a member. I don't know what it requires to be a member. It's $10 for the wine tasting if you're a member. Well, we gotta find out what it takes to be a member because that sounds like something I need a carrying card for. I know. I probably need to go back and reread the email and all the fine print. See what I'm getting at.
SPEAKER_00See what you gotta sign up for. We definitely want to go there. We can enjoy that on Thursday nights. So then we went to the painting place next to the show.
SPEAKER_01We do have frozen drinks. There were two frozen drinks that they had there too. Some type of like flavored spritzer. There was a berry one and a peach one.
SPEAKER_00So if you don't like wine right out of the bottle, there's But you want something nice and refreshing. Uh those were really good. They really were good. Usually they're not. You know, sometimes out of those little containers that are not. But those they were really good. You could taste they'll put it in a to go cup for you. Yeah, a little plastic cup, and you can take it anywhere you want to go, which we did. We took it painting with us. So we went to I Candy Art Studios and Brenda made a gargle. Yeah, it's a little gargoyle. He thought it was a bat, but now it's a gargoyle. I thought it was a bat. But now it has a bat.
SPEAKER_01It has a long tail. It's a gargoyle.
SPEAKER_00It's cute, whatever. I did a little frog container and with my little cross-eyed frog with the pink and purple colors on it.
SPEAKER_01I can't wait to see when they're done and fire after we pick them up. So we'll post pictures of them after they're done.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely, absolutely. So that was very fun. And yeah, like a little street party going on there and live music. Yeah. Animals were out on leashes, and that's another reason I need animals. So I've pit and a stroller and take it with me. Responsible pet owners. It was lovely. It was a lovely place. There's a theater there. Right. Uh which we have got to however you become uh on their mailing list so we can see who's coming there and who's doing what. I'm sure interesting people come, even though it's Duluth, Georgia, it's so close to Atlanta. I think it'll be kind of like the same thing where we went to the comedy club that was in Beauford. We're so close to Atlanta that they kind of hone in their skills on the little outskirt towns like we live in, progress to, you know, the Atlanta shows. So we get to go and enjoy the neat shows without the traffic and without the stress and headache of downtown Atlanta. I don't like that. We don't like downtown Atlanta, but we do love to be entertained and different entertaining stuff. I think we found another little spot and it's not far from home. Yeah, it's it's just so cute and uh and fun.
SPEAKER_01Where we ate it was called the Oh the the Good Word Brewery. Good Word Brewery. All right, I like the names of the beers. It's all craft beer. I know because I tried, you know, in my boring fashion, tried to order a Bud Light. We don't have that, but here is the closest one we have to it, and it was good. Yeah. And it was only the beers were only five dollars that I was drinking. Yeah, mine was not. What I was drinking was not five dollars. That happens a lot though. You lean over. How come mine's so much?
SPEAKER_00Why is my bill so much more than yours? We got the same dinner. But that's because I go hogwild, I mean not hog wild, but I like to try different drinks. So um I'm like to explore uh the alcohol list, I guess. I even ended the meal with a espresso martini. Oh, oh.
SPEAKER_01It better been, oh, wasn't that another $15 on your bill? It it was worth it. It was worth it. I know. It was worth it.
SPEAKER_00I worked hard for my money, honey. And we don't go out very often. No, we don't do it often. If we did that all the time, I wouldn't definitely not do that. But since it's like what, once a month, maybe that we explore out, then you know, I save up my dollas to make the one hollow. There you go. Okay. So um it was so much fun. I definitely want to go back. Definitely. We're gonna go back and uh I want to take Jeff and do the painting and stuff like that. If you would go and put it.
SPEAKER_01I will be amazed if you can get that man to paint. I would be too. Well, maybe not. He helped you with the one over the couch.
SPEAKER_00We've done some uh artistic stuff before, and he didn't want to do it. And then and then once I got him to do it or into it, like, well, this is what I'm doing. You can watch me or not. And once I got him into it, he was in it.
SPEAKER_01Will he do it away from the house? He's gonna have to. That's your challenge. Yeah, he's gonna have to. Then he'll have to come talk about it. Yeah, well. Tell us what he thinks about it. Oh, him. Will he do it? I don't know. That I can't. We need to get your husband on this show. People are starting to think he's not real. Sometimes I wonder if he's real.
SPEAKER_00He is very real. He's very shy. I think he's shy. I don't know if it's shy or quiet. He is both of those. Well, anything you can imagine me not being, that's what he is. Okay.
SPEAKER_01On opposites attract.
SPEAKER_00Yes, they do. That's fine. I'm always in the spotlight, and he's happy to just sit over there and uh look at me adoringly.
SPEAKER_01He could be in the house right now and I wouldn't know. I know. He's a very quiet person. Next time I sense him home, maybe I'll ask him to be on the show and make sure he goes to paint with you. That'd be awesome.
SPEAKER_00Put him under the spotlight and have him do that. But I think I I mean I'm having a blast exploring the little towns around us, finding out what's going on. It's just been fun doing that.
SPEAKER_01It's fun, especially when we find him close by because you know we don't want to go anywhere. No. So if it's close, I feel like, okay, this is our own backyard. Yeah, and less than four miles away is close enough.
SPEAKER_00We can venture out.
SPEAKER_01We can do it. I know. So we just kind of want to tell everybody go to Duluth. It's a cute place.
SPEAKER_00Who knew? Downtown Duluth and so far downtown Beeford. The area of Beeford is wild and crazy, too much traffic, and it's not fun near the mall of Georgia. But the little back downtown area was amazing. So uh we need to start exploring more of that. If you know of a place that uh we should venture out close by where we live, explore, please reach out to us and uh let us know because we'd love to, or if you have a story to share about a little town you visited. Tell us about that. We would love that. Definitely. And then you're just sitting there staring at me like, what are you thinking next? What are you thinking? I know. I think we're blown away by the numbers from our earlier show or celebrating our one year anniversary birthday of Let's Wine with Brendan and Stacey.
SPEAKER_01I know that's why I'm kind of waiting to um split this one up. This one was to focus on um Duluth, Georgia, and to say goodbye to Dolly. So I guess we'll go ahead and wrap this one up. On Less Wine with Brendan Stacey. Bye. Rest in peace, Dolly.
